*Grüßt mal freundlich in die Runde*
Also ich bin seid gut 2 Jahren leidenschaftlicher Rollenspieler und gespielt habe ich bis jetzt jede menge Vampire (Dark Ages / The Masquerade), ein wenig Shadowrun und einiges an D&D Sessions. (Des Weiteren noch diverse sehr kurzlebig: Engel, Ravenloft, Star Wars, Rad der Zeit)
Lieblingscharaktere:
"For some reason, no one else has posted spoilers of the book, so I
might as well do so. I haven't read all of it yet, but I'll try to
put down what I've managed to glean from it.
True to all claims, the book has four different scenarios to choose
from. Some will probably not be the 'canon' conclusion, if there will
be a 'canon' conclusion that is, but whatever. One thing that
surprised me was the lack of crossover. I mean, sure, this is a
vampire book and crossover is more of an option than a rule, but I
wished they had spared as least one scenario that does involve the
other races. With some of the things that happen in the Vampire
Gehenna, it just stretched credibility that the
mages/werewolves/changelings/mummies/demons/etc... would be complete
non-factors.
Anyhow, the first scenario involves Ferox and a dhampir named Allia.
God reveals a warning through Allia that he plans to unleash a force
known as Wormwood onto the world that will destroy all vampires. Only
vampires who are in a specific shelter will be spared, and even they
will be judged in the end.
This scenarios, from what I've read, doesn't involve the
Antideluvians or methusalahs at all, and seems very Biblical in tone.
There is no Jyhad. All the vampires just get wiped out after the
onset of Wormwood.
The second scenario concerns Lilith. There's this entire backstory
where Lilith betrays Caine and how the Jyhad is just a battle between
the 13 Antideluvians who support Caine, and the 7 Antideluvians who
support Lilith. The 13 who support Caine are the ones we know of, who
founded the Clans (Tremere is not considered an Antideluvian in this
scenario and Saulot is in his place). The seven are other
Antideluvians whose existences were only theorized and their names
confused with others. They are Lucian, Mekhet, Erinye, etc... In
thise scenario, the most likely result is that Lilith kills Caine,
ending the vampiric curse.
The third scenario is the one that involves many of the signature
characters and what I would guess is the 'canon' Gehenna. In this
one, Jan Pieterzoon renounces his sire and forms a new sect called
the Nephtali whose purpose is to stop Gehenna and the lies of the
Camarilla. One of the first things they have to do is stop Tzimisce,
who has gone mad and is rampaging through New York. To do this, they
rely on Tremere (the person, not the Clan), who releases Kupula.
Tzimisce is beaten and diablerized by Tremere, who gets done in
himself, shortly afterwards. Um, more stuff happens. Then even more
stuff happens. Augustus Giovanni dies. More stuff happens. Saulot is
reborn as a six-year-old child. Even more stuff. Then an Angel comes
down and accepts Saulot's sacrifice and most of the vampires die.
Those who survive don't survive for long. Curse of Caine weakens,
then fades away completely.
The fourth scenario is my favourite. In this one, all the
Antideluvians make their bid for power and dominance. Most fail. When
all the old vampires awaken, they quickly enslave mankind and other
vampires. But their powers are fading, even the Antideluvians are
weaker than they once were. For them to restore themselves, they must
diablerise another vampire of potent blood. So they start warring on
each other. Lasombra blots out the sun, but only for a little while.
Malkav starts creating a huge, crazy mass-mind, until he's stopped
too. Tremere tries to cast a 10th level ritual on all of humanity by
using the Human Genome Project as humanity's true name, and almost
succeeds, but gets one-upped by Tzimisce in the last second. Tzimisce
nearly wins the Jyhad, but gets destroyed through Saulot's sacrifice
(again). Only two Antideluvians manage to survive Gehenna. One is
Ennoia, who has earth-melded with the entire planet. Another is
someone else. Caine, as far as I can tell, sleeps through Gehenna
undisturbed.
And that's it. That's how it ends. Heh. The book has ideas for making
your own Gehenna, though, if that's what you prefer.
Here are some odd thoughts that came to me while I was reading this:
Ventrue (antideluvian) is assumed to be already dead in at least two
of the scenarios. In the ones where he might still be alive, he
doesn't do anything interesting.
Toreador anti is assumed alive, but also doesn't do anything
interesting. I think she shows up once in the third scenario at the
end, and she doesn't get any lines.
Saulot shows up in three scenarios and has a vital role in all of
them.
Tremere shows up in two scenarios and has vital roles in them as well.
Tzimisce shows up in three scenarios and also plays a pretty vital
role.
Lasombra is alive in all three scenarios where the antis show up, but
his power level varies. In one, he's only a shadow (heh) of his
former self.
Set (aka Typhon) is dead in most scenarios and must be resurrected by
the Setites. They succeed in one case, but fail in another. Either
way, they're ****ed.
Haqim is alive and a bloodthirsty bastard in all scenarios that he
shows up in.
In the third scenario, the Harbringers of the Skulls are revealed to
be Lazarenes who were imprisoned in Kaymakli, but escaped by crossing
over through the Shroud.
Troile is assumed to have killed Brujah, but did not manage to
diablerise her sire. She, as far as I know, doesn't show up at all.
Most of the bloodlines don't get any mention. I still don't know what
was up with the Daughters of Cacophony.
Vykos joins the Nephtali in the third scenario. Etrius does too.
Oh, almost forgot. One of the story hooks that you can use that the
book offered if you're building your own Gehenna, is that 'Lucian' is
not an Antideluvian at all, but an alias for Lucifer, the Morningstar
of the Demon gameline."
